Permanent Arbitration signed Cooperation Agreement with Shanghai International Arbitration Center

On the occasion of the visit of the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (SHIAC) to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, Mr. Yang Jianrong, Chairman of the SHIAC and Prof. Mirko Vasiljević, President of the Permanent Arbitration at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, signed the Cooperation Agreement between these two arbitration institutions.

The aim of Cooperation Agreement is to promote arbitration as a method of international commercial disputes resolution, exchange of experiences deriving from arbitration practice and publications, as well as organization of conferences, seminars and other expert meetings.

Mr. Yang Jianrong used this opportunity to present the work of the SHIAC, an important arbitration center, before which more than 1100 arbitration disputes were initiated during the last year. He concluded that there is a great prospect for the development of cooperation between the Shanghai and Serbian arbitration institutions.

Addressing the President Jianrong and members of the Chinese delegation, Prof. Mirko Vasiljević spoke of the long tradition of arbitration in Serbia, especially the one of the Permanent Arbitration which exists for more than 70 years. He emphasized that cooperation with a large arbitration center such as SHIAC is of a profound importance for the Permanent Arbitration, and that this meeting and future cooperation will surely contribute to the improvement and development of our arbitration practice.
